Why move your body? Part 2
Why move your body? Part 2
The body is the only tool we have to experience this physical life with, why not make the most of it!?
This year I decided to upgrade my training regime and focus on movement. Incorporating calisthenics, gymnastics, hand balancing, primal movement, locomotion, co-ordination and flexibility etc into one balanced programme. I have been intensely training 3 hours a day, 6 days a week under the supervision of Ido Portal. If you didn’t read the previous blog I wrote, check it out to understand more of what this modern day movement genius is about…
First and foremost, I’ve had to undergo a series of extensive movement tests. This is to ensure that each exercise is being performed correctly and with precision. It has been a rather lengthy process, and although quite laborious whilst performing (Approx 60 tests!), I am now understanding the importance of these assessments and really enjoying the training.
Whats important?
Nowadays, we expect the end product far too quickly, and as a society we are dependent on instant gratification. Fast food, internet shopping, social media likes… We also see this instant gratification need being catered for in the medical world, examples would be, weight loss pills, anti depressant and anti anxiety medications – designed to get quick results. This is detrimental to our well being. True change that lasts takes time. Persistence, determination and commitment is the only way. Just like when you learned to walk – Think of the countless tumbles you endured, but still you got back up and soldiered on to your success!
Allow yourself to blossom. Work on yourself from the inside, and true fulfilment awaits. You have the key.
Many of these fashionable quick fixes have risky side effects and most of the time, will not solve the problem in the long term. Many people who go on crash diets and intense weight loss programs, end up injured, depleted and pile the weight back on very quickly.
“If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend the first six of them sharpening my axe.” – Abraham Lincoln.
Through this programme I have re learned the significance of patience. Allowing myself to enjoy the process and actually learn more, whilst connecting with myself exponentially.
I have improved my strength, mobility, balance and understanding of whats going on inside my body immensely. I have stripped body fat and gained lean muscle mass. My form has seen a huge upgrade and I have so much more body awareness. My hand standing has improved, my locomotion work and mobility of joints have increased. I am now performing olympic ring muscle ups – in less than a month of training!
Want to join in!?
I am currently designing a movement course for beginners based on what I’ve learned. This will include various aspects of the programme. Calisthenics, functional body weight training, hand standing, primal movement flow and mobility/flexibility will all be incorporated. It will be catered for all levels, so there will be progressions and regressions to allow every participant to grow and improve, ensuring you crush your goals!
Please get in touch if this is of interest to you. I will only be teaching in small groups, so everybody gets my undivided attention and expertise. There has been a lot of interest in this, so please don’t delay. You can get in touch via my email below. More info to come soon…
